ABOUT US
We are a weekly conversational podcast that explores the dark, seedy, and just downright weird stories in American politics. Why are the astonishing tales of miscreant mayors or salacious civil servants so provocative? Maybe it reminds us that we are all complicated creatures. Maybe we just love to hear about good guys gone bad.
Our tagline “maladies, madness, mischief, and murder in American politics” says it all. Since the beginning, we set out to tell outrageous, strange, and sometimes dark stories from the world of politics that people may have forgotten. Through witty conversation and banter, we want to make the listener feel like they’re in the room with us
Our tagline “maladies, madness, mischief, and murder in American politics” says it all. Since the beginning, we set out to tell outrageous, strange, and sometimes dark stories from the world of politics that people may have forgotten. Through witty conversation and banter, we want to make the listener feel like they’re in the room with us.
In our bi-weekly segment, Li’l Muck, we aim to highlight folks doing incredible work in their communities. We speak to journalists, politicians, activists, and others about their experiences or favorite stories in politics.
The Hosts
Hillary Dougherty, born in New Orleans and raised in South Florida, is a lover of music, true crime, and, above all else, politics. Paying attention to all the ups and downs in the political world started when she voted in 4th grade for the first time in the mock Presidential Election at her elementary school, (she voted Dukakis), and the rest was history. When she is not recording the podcast, Hillary enjoys volunteering for political and grassroots organizations in South Florida.
While Tina Jaramillo hasn’t pulled any political strings, she has cut through enough literary red tape to know a juicy political story when she sees one. When she’s not blowing the whistle on historical hijinx, she is corralling her family (including her adorable pup), advocating for others through her volunteer work, or crafting tales and blankets (in no particular order).
